PANAFIERA!Those rainy days,
they ain’t so bad when you’re the king

i'm sending you away tonight, put you on a bird's strong wing
and i forget, how fragile are the very strong
Let’s start with the basics. Meet Panafiera, Pan, for short. She’s a mare who tops out at 16.1 hands high, so I guess you could say she’s medium in height, and the breed she most closely resembles is the anglo-arab. She’s still barely more than a filly at four years old, but already she follows the Goddess and is in fact an incarnate.
If you’re wondering about her appearance, well, she’s a dark bay, so dark in fact, that you might be inclined to call her black when the lighting’s dim. Her main and tail are black, of course, and both are quite sparsely haired but perfectly serviceable. She has an ordinary star and snip on her face, and her forelegs are both graced with half socks, while her hind ones both have pastern markings. Having neither horns nor wings, she would resemble a perfectly ordinary horse, the kind that we’re used to, were it not for the wine red thread like designs that swirl over these white parts of her legs, curving gently down to her hooves. There’s also the matter, of course, of the necklace that hangs around her neck, the pendant containing a piece of pure quartz.
As mentioned above she resembles an anglo-arab, with the fine, elegant bone structure and renowned endurance of an Arabian, mixed with some of the strength and speed of a thoroughbred. She has good conformation, with a strong neck, muscular forequarters and hindquarters, long legs and a tail that is carried somewhat upright. Her head is ever so slightly dished and her dark brown eyes are large and expressive. Her muzzle is soft with large, flared nostrils and her ears are small, pert and forward facing. Overall she’s no fantastic beauty; not one to have stallions fainting at the sight of her, but there is something pleasing in the way she’s put together, something that you can look at and appreciate without feeling overwhelmed.
Now we turn to her personality. Whether you believe she’s an actual physical incarnation of the Goddess or just a priestess of sorts, she’s not exactly what you’d expect from someone so close to the divine. There’s no doubting that she is very religious; she adores the Goddess and prays many times a day, but she’s also loud, rambunctious and as playful as a foal in springtime. Outspoken, she always says exactly what she thinks and isn’t too bothered about what others think of her. That having been said she likes to get along with everyone and is gregarious by nature; no matter how grumpy or antisocial you are, she will try chat with you, or at you, until you respond in a satisfactory manner. Very bright and with a sarcastic streak a mile wide, she enjoys teasing and being teased, and it’s best to take everything she says as a joke. A natural leader, she can be a little bossy at times and usually expects others to follow her. Fortunately her intelligence means that her ideas and pieces of advice are usually sound.
But no matter how she seems, deep down Panafiera is just as kind and loving as any incarnate, even if she has an odd way of showing it. She may tease, but she always knows where the line is and will never cross it; her intention is not to hurt or upset anyone. She cares deeply about others, and is decidedly gallant in the lengths she’ll go too to help or protect a horse in danger. With an open heart, she judges no one, and will treat the oldest, weakest most decrepit horse with the same respect she’d show to the strongest and most handsome stallion. Down to Earth in every sense of the phrase, Panafiera is far from a hopeless romantic and is generally able to keep a cool head around stallions, just as she can keep a cool head in even the most stressful and scary of situations; she’s not an easy one to panic.
So now we move on to the little matter of her Powers. Pan can wield magic, earth magic, and has a particular affinity for plants. She’s not a very strong magician and every spell leaves her a little tired and weak, but she’s working on growing stronger mentally and slowly her resilience to the effects of magic is growing. Her main abilities involve encouraging grasses and herbs to grow thicker, providing food and medicine to others, as well as more aesthetic things such as encouraging flowers to bloom and produce pleasant scents.
Now we move onto her history. Panafiera was born in the eastern land, daughter to two horses who followed the incarnates and granddaughter to one of the incarnates themselves. Her early life was very happy, mostly spent frolicking in the meadows with her year-mates and being a nuisance to the adults. Right from the start she was brought up to follow the Goddess and be a good, kind horse. Once she was old enough to truly understand the ways of the incarnates her grandmother took her under her wing and began teaching her. Having always been intelligent, Pan learned quickly, and when she was three years old the Goddess picked her out as one of her chosen ones. Panafiera was gifted with a pendant of pure quartz.
A few short months after this, Pan began to get itchy feet. It was not terribly common for a mare to leave her birth-herd, but Pan wanted to see the world and everything it had to offer, and so she left, boldly stepping out alone. She has now been wandering for some time and has met many interesting horses and seen many fascinating places, and is now looking for a place to settle down, somewhere where she can lead a herd of her own and do the work of the Goddess from there.
