HISTORY
The anomaly of a mare giving birth to two foals (twins) is a rarity in deeded. However, Levana did just that on an early morning when the sun was just peeking over the horizon. The nervousness she felt before birth was but a habit laced with fear. Years of being forced under the Helghan’s hooves had a way of making a mare a little leery. You see her mate Abraxas loved her, oddly enough but love just the same and when she was to give birth to a foal, he and his mate fled their land and their King and Lord to take refuge with the Rebellion. Their adventure and flight had only been a few months before Levana was to give birth so as you can see the fear had not yet left. Her mate stood guard, waiting carefully for anything that might harm her and disturb this wonderful morning. The day was defiantly joyous; she not only gifted her mate with one son but two, both strong and robust colts but identical they were not.
Ricus was noble, always longing to prove himself to his father, to his herd, his leader and his mother. His ability to make others feel more at easy was legendry. While he had not been graced with the looks and charm his brother had, no one could tell him he did not have heart. From the time, he was able to play with the other foals, everyone could tell his loyal and honorable he was. True he was a little jealous of his brother’s ability to charm anyone, his charismatic ways and over all perfection in appearance. All the other foals favored his brother over Ricus. The two brothers quickly displayed their differences, while Ricus was quick and thoughtful in a mock fought (and in anything else he did) his brother did not share this trait.
Into Ricus second year the two brothers started to become more aggressive towards one another, both jealous of the other and yet for different reasons. Ricus was jealous of his brothers ease in which he dealt with the fillies. Mostly because of one filly in particular, she was the one of his dreams, his heart belong to her even if she did not know it did. Over that year, Ricus tried to hide his feelings for the female but as always Ricus’ brother knew too much or maybe he could just tell. His twin saw the opportunity and took it, charming and toying with the filly shamelessly until she had fallen for him. This did not go over well with Ricus, his only option was to fight for her and show her that he cared for her more then his brother did. The battle between brothers quickly escalated for a year and a half, both becoming adults and the filly, a beautiful mare. Her feelings towards Ricus blossomed and in the end, she picked him. His twin with draw, laughing it off as a friendly brotherly thing and trust his brother Ricus forgave him.
Forgiveness is like the jaws of a wolf, you never know when they will turn on you. Why else would Ricus not trust his brother? How could he not when for the months that lead up to that fateful day had been wonderful, friendly and as always what he had hoped for between himself and his twin. The two talked, played and even laughed together, everything said trusting him and forgiveness was the right thing to do. That was until a scream tore through Ricus ears. Her scream, a sound that even now sent chilled down his skin and turned his stomach. In a surge of power, Ricus had moved as fast as he could to the sound of his mate. He was late, her last breath and her last look was of Ricus horrified features. She was gone, like a shadow that lost, it is will to shine.
His brother laughed, telling him he was worthless, pathetic and weak to have fallen in love as he did. To lose his heart to some worthless creature. Who was the male with him? Nothing was really registering in his mind, all he could do was feel, his brother had betrayed him, his brother had left some stallion come in and help him kill Ricus’ mate. She had been his world, his reason for life. The deep, harsh emotions did not let him go after his brother and the stallion; it only let him stand there, numb all over.
PERSONALITY
Ricus is most recognizable due to his combination of straight-shooting directness, laser beam mental focus, and critical assessment. Don't ask Ricus if you don't want to know the unvarnished truth. There's no sugar-coating whatsoever here, even if the truth is not pretty. This tendency does not endear him to many others, who consider him overly critical - even hurtfully so. However, by the same token, when Ricus gives you a compliment, it's not as a condescending gesture, but rather a straight-out, honest assessment that you can indeed be proud of. Although Ricus generally performs well in social situations, he is most comfortable either alone or with the small circle of family and friends he is closest to. This is not a sign that actively seeks out the company of others, preferring introversion rather than extroversion whenever possible. He is fiercely self-reliant and will almost never seek out the advice of others, preferring to look to himself for his answers.
Ricus is a fiercely private, deeply feeling stallion indeed. You may have to get used to the fact that you will never know everything about him, but rest assured that if he feels a strong connection to you, he will let you know what you need to know. Indeed, if he didn't feel a strong connection to you, you wouldn't even be around! Ricus is very loyal and expects the same from the people he holds close. He is a highly intuitive individual, and will likely instinctively know what you need and want. However, his intuition will also pick up on imperfections, so don't be surprised if he zeros in and starts asking probing questions if you are trying to hide something from him.
He may seem quite critical, which is off-putting at times, but you can count on him for an honest assessment. Don't go to him for sympathy, as he will tell you to pick yourself up and get on with it. However, if you are in real trouble, he will likely sympathize and find resources to solve your problem, often in an unconventional way. If you cross him, depending on the circumstances, he may walk away for life, but if he doesn't, he will find a way to even the score to his satisfaction before resuming the friendship. Despite these pitfalls, Ricus as a friend has the potential to be one of the most loyal, intuitive, intelligent, nurturing, and helpful friends, so making the effort to dig a little deeper will likely provide you with rich rewards in the end!
