The Darkness, Darkseid, has been defeated and Superman flies. With the defeat of Darkseid, and his minions, Clark has finally become the hero that he was always destined to be. With Darkseid sent back to his world of Apokalips, Clark now has the opportunity to focus on the brighter things of life, specifically his wedding with Lois Lane.
As usual though, not everything goes according to plan. On the day of their wedding, an uninvited guest shows up to ruin the day. The one person on the planet that Clark and his friends had expected to never see again reveals himself during the ceremony. That person is Lex Luthor.
Lex reveals that he had never truly died at the hands of Oliver Queen and that he had actually been alive and well for many years, watching them all from shadows. The ‘Lex’ that Oliver had killed had actually been the first of many failed clones that Lex had created.
It doesn’t take long for Lex to take control of LuthorCorp and Queen Industries away from Tess and Oliver, something that leaves the League unfunded. Lex also takes the time to seek out the new Lionel Luthor and Lex accepts Lionel into his life, although many suspect it is so that Lex can keep an eye on this version of his father and use him as a pawn.
With the League unfunded, Clark was forced to shut down Watchtower, but continued to fight the good fight. As Superman gained more exposure, more and more heroes began to reveal themselves to the world, following in Clark’s footsteps. With new heroes, comes new villains however, as around the globe more villains arise to challenge these new heroes.
After several months of the Watchtower being shut down, Chloe reveals to Clark that she had been contacted by a mysterious benefactor, and that Watchtower could now re-open. Now with the Watchtower opened once more, Clark takes the opportunity to seek out his fellow heroes in hopes that they will join him in his battle to save mankind from evil.
